Thanks to Michele Hadlow at Forbes Magazine, I had the pleasure of photographing Alison Cohen, founder of Alta Bicycle Share, recently in Boston. Her company is creating essentially the ZipCars of bicycling for major urban markets. The latest launch is scheduled for Boston in July, but is currently up and running in Montreal, Melbourne and Washington DC. In addition to being an incentive to get more cars off the street and urging folks to use a healthier mode of transportation, the bikes look good — slick and not painted day-glo orange like some of the free-bike programs that have been tried. Of course while the days before and after the shoot were lusciously warm and beautiful, the only day we had available together was nearly washed and blown away with a wave of thunderstorms moving across the Northeast. Luckily, she was a great sport and it all worked out.
